Storm damage? The first 24 hours.
Roofs, walls, fences, outbuildings and fallen trees. Here's what to do first, and how we take the claim off your hands.
The first 24 hours
- Stay safe.Keep away from damaged walls, roofs, fallen trees and power lines. Report fallen power lines by calling 105.
- Make it safe and secure if you can.A tarpaulin over a damaged roof or boards over a broken window can stop more damage. Only do it if it's safe, or use a contractor, and keep the receipts.
- Photograph the damage inside and out.Roofs, walls, fences, outbuildings and anything inside that's been affected by wind or rain.
- Keep damaged materials.Keep things like broken tiles and fence panels until they've been seen.
- Write down when it happened.Note the date and time of the storm and when you first noticed the damage.
- Call us before you agree anything with your insurer. We'll take over the claim and deal with your insurer for you.
How Sabre helps
Your insurer will send a loss adjuster to look after their interests. We look after yours. We prepare and present your claim, deal with the insurer and their adjuster, and push for your full entitlement, so you can focus on getting back to normal.
