Experiencing a leak at home can be a stressful situation, but it’s even worse when it happens during the holiday season. Unfortunately, our client had to deal with this exact scenario. While he was away from home, his neighbor called him to report that water was pouring through his ceiling and that his kitchen ceiling had collapsed.
The client made sure to turn off the water and contacted their insurance company to file a claim. The insurance company then assigned a third party to manage the claim and they scheduled a visit to the client’s home for early January. In the meantime, the client had the two pipe leaks repaired and cleaned up some of the damage in their kitchen.
During the property assessment, the surveyor spent less than 10 minutes at our client’s home and visually assessed the damage.
Our client was informed, after two months of waiting and numerous calls, that his claim was invalid.
In his desperation, our client sought Sabre’s assistance. Once instructed, we gathered all relevant information and contacted the third-party company to discuss their decision to reject the claim.
After lengthy discussions with the third party, they continued to reject the claim without providing any reason. We then contacted our client’s insurance company directly.
The insurance company determined that our client was not treated fairly and removed the third-party company from the claim, handling the claim themselves.
Our client received an apology from the insurance company, compensation for how he was treated and all damage from leaks was repaired, including replacing his entire kitchen.
